Opportunities for Groups
Make a Difference in the Lives of our Most Vulnerable Neighbors
Transition Projects would not be able to function without the neighbors, friends, community groups, and more who support our work every day.
Each group that takes the time to support our programs — whether providing meals or deep cleaning shelters — makes a difference to our organization and those we serve.
We would love to welcome your group to the community of those who support our work.

Get Involved
Provide a Meal* — OUR BIGGEST VOLUNTEER NEED
Meal Provider groups consist of a team leader and a small group of volunteers — family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, or another type of service group — who come together to cook a full meal for shelter participants. Learn more about our Meal Provider Program.
Deep Clean a Shelter
Having a clean and beautiful space helps us to serve our participants with the respect and dignity they deserve. With eight shelters throughout Portland, there is plenty of opportunity for your group to help.
Donate Gifts in Kind
Whether it be shoes, sheets, khakis, or canned goods, our shelters thrive off new or lightly used donations from community members. See our updated list of most needed donations!
Process Donated Items
We receive thousands of items yearly that need to be sorted, organized, and routed to the programs and people who need them.
Host a Donation Drive
Increase your impact by organizing a collection event for our critically needed items like seasonal clothing for adults, socks, underwear, and new hygiene items. Learn more.
Help at an Event
Throughout the year, our team often needs volunteer help with special events such as our IMPACT Gala, Portland Veterans Resource & Wellness Fair, and Truckload of Coats. There are many opportunities to get involved.
Youth Volunteering
Minors, age 8+, may volunteer with school or youth groups — or with their family — as Resource Organizers or Meal Providers.
