Meet Our Team

Kalani K.

Kalani has been with Transition Projects for over seven years and is currently a Residential Advocate at our Doreen’s Place shelter. Outside of work, he enjoys eating, hiking, camping, and exploring other towns in Oregon because he loves history.

We appreciate Kalani’s dedication to our participants and hope you’ll take a minute to learn more about his Transition Projects journey in his own words.

What brought you to Transition Projects?

I was tired of office life in Hawaii and decided to change scenery, both personally and professionally. I initially joined as a custodian to be active and moving around.

What has your time been like?

After getting hurt, I became a Residential Advocate at our Doreen’s Place shelter. Eventually, I moved over to the overnight shift. I love the team I work with, helping participants and ultimately just working with people.

What do Transition Projects and your work here mean to you?

I’m glad to work here and help the participants. I always try to ask people if they need anything and aid them with problems or struggles. It means a lot when I can make someone’s day a bit brighter, whether by solving something for them or just with some positivity and a laugh.
