Meet Our Team
Ashley K.
Ashley has been with Transition Projects for two years and is currently the Program Manager of our River District Navigation Center - a shelter program for 90 individuals and couples in NW Portland.
Outside work, she does everything with her 3-year-old, Jacqueline.
We appreciate Ashley’s selflessness and constant support for our participants. We hope you’ll take a minute to learn more about her Transition Projects journey in her own words.
What brought you to Transition Projects?
I came to Transition Projects with an eagerness to grow personally and professionally. I had reached a point in my recovery journey where it was time to be selfless and give back.
I spent so many years rebuilding my life from the ashes and rubble of addiction in similar ways as the very folks we serve, and once I saw it could be done, I knew it was time to share it. I was passionate, and Transition Projects gave me the professional tools and skills to do that.
What has your time been like?
Since starting here at Transition Projects, I have met many wonderful people with the same mission, goals, and compassion for humanity. One thing I love about this agency is the mentorship I have found within it.
I have been so lucky to work alongside some impressive people who have bestowed upon me the knowledge and skills they have learned here. Now, I get to take that and pass it along to the next. I started as a swing shift Residential Advocate (RA) two years ago, and now I get to be part of shaping the next generation of talented RAs working the front lines…it’s amazing!
What do Transition Projects and your work here mean to you?
This work has changed my life and allowed me to build one that’s not worth losing, and providing that for someone else is priceless. I love getting to know the people we serve, hearing their stories, asking what they need, and how I can support them.
Paying attention, slowing down, and being present for just a few minutes a day can change lives on such drastic, beautiful levels. There truly is nothing else like it.
